Revival event is organized by Episcopal parish

“You had a revival?  At an Episcopal parish?”  Over the weekend that was a question posed to me by a clergy colleague in connection with the revival organized by the Church of St. Simon the Cyrenian in New Rochelle, N.Y.

“Yes,” I replied, “a revival, and it came off very well, and the people of the parish want to do it again!”  The colleague asking the question is very keen on evangelism and mission, so he was making sure not out of skepticism but out of delight.

Yes, while revival events are common among Anglican congregations in many parts of Africa, it is indeed unusual for an Episcopal congregation to organize an event along revival lines and simply call it that.  So it might be helpful for people to get a sense of it by looking at the story posted on the St. Simon’s website.

Further reflection on the revival will appear in future postings, both from me and from parishioners.
